ASHTABULA – Joyce Eileen Zaebst, 92, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at the family home. She was born January 8, 1931 in Ashtabula, the daughter of John W. and Frances L. (Sheats) Marsh and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident. A graduate of Ashtabula High School, she worked in banking before getting married to the love of her life, Robert Zaebst, whom she married on September 30, 1951, and shared 64 wonderful years with before his passing. A devoted Cleveland Indians fan, she enjoyed being with her family and spending lots of time with husband camping, attending auctions (always looking for deal), gardening, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Joyce was a member of First Christian Church where she served as librarian for many years until its closing and currently was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was very religious, enjoyed Elvis and church hymns, and appreciated the little things in life, such as her McDonald's cheeseburger and a Frosty from Wendy's. She is survived by three children, Linda (Brian) Anderson of Holiday, FL, Steven (Cindy) Zaebst of Westerville, and Sue (Frank) Izzi of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Eric (Alexa) and Brett (Tabi) Anderson, Steven (Audrey) Zaebst, and Crystal (Todd) Fabella; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Zaebst on February 11, 2016; her son, Ken Zaebst; her brother, Leonard Marsh; and her parents. A private family graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville where she will be laid to rest with her husband at a later date. DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements. www.ducro.com.
