Obituary of Franklin Albert Brake

Franklin A. Brake, originally from Ashtabula, OH, and presently from Confluence, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 10th, 2023, aged eighty-eight years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean (Colflesh) Brake, to whom he would have been married for sixty-six years on Jan. 19th. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Brake and Marjory (Denslow) Brake. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra Kay (Brake) Hyndman and her husband Kelly of Potomac Falls, VA, and by his grandchildren Scott Hyndman and wife Megan, of Falls Church, VA, and Rebecca Hyndman and husband Greg Hammersmith, of Gaithersburg, MD. Also surviving are his brothers Jack and wife Pearle, of Palmyra, PA, and Kenneth and wife Terry, of Forest City, NC; his sister Janice and husband Michael McCracken, of Temecula, CA; his nieces Denice Games of Buckeye, AZ, Tammy Whitaker of Horsham, PA, and Marie Hirayama of Seattle, WA; and his nephew Jed Brake of Leipsic, OH. Frank, a veteran of the Korean War era who served in the U.S. Army's Air Defense Artillery, retired as a Contracts Payment Specialist from the Public Works Administration of the City of Mesa, AZ. Frank was always active in the Lord's service and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Confluence, PA. Frank served the Lord in many different roles wherever he and Jean lived including as a Sunday school teacher, as the church treasurer, as a trustee, and on the building committee. He served on Work & Witness teams to build churches in Thailand, Africa, Ecuador, and Mexico. In the U.S.A., he helped build parsonages, an activity center, and served with RV Work and Witness. Frank always pitched in where needed, including sponsoring international students from Arizona State University. He was faithful to the end. A viewing will be held at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, PA, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18th. The funeral services will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, North Kingsville, OH, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21st with Rev. Jedediah Brake and Rev. Jennifer Brake officiating.
