Obituary of Theresa Rose Nieminen

Theresa Rose Nieminen, 80, passed away on Friday, January 27th, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 22nd, 1942, in Ashtabula, OH, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kovacs) Ignot. Theresa graduated from St. John High School Class of 1960. She went on to marry the love of her life, Wayne Andrew Nieminen on June 30th, 1973. She was a family-oriented woman. For many years she was the caregiver of her parents, sister, and husband. She took tap dance lessons and danced with her daughter. She loved music, mostly Elvis and classic oldies. Something that truly brought her joy throughout her life was her cats. She also had a strong sweet tooth. For eight years, you could find her working at Walmart in their fitting room department. When Theresa reached her golden years, she moved into her daughter’s residence which she called home for the last year. During her time there she reconnected with a longtime friend who was her son in laws mother, Norma Hamilton. They bonded and shared memories of growing up in Ashtabula and reminiscing about their younger years growing up on the Eastside of Ashtabula. Theresa was always well put together and she looked forward to her weekly visits to the hair salon. Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Kristi (Brian Hamilton) Snyder; grandchildren, Logan and John Snyder, Macie, Paige, Sadee, and Danica Hamilton. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Wayne Nieminen, who passed away on June 4th, 2007; her parents, Michael and Mary; and her sister, Barbara Ignot. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 30th, 2023, from 5PM – 7PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. A funeral service for Theresa will be held on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, at 1PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Western Reserve in Theresa’s honor.
