Annette Marie (Zak) Dragon, 85, of Ashtabula, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at UH-Geneva Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Born October 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Krawczyk) Zak. A resident of Ashtabula all her life, Annette was a 1956 Graduate of Ashtabula High School and was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, Ashtabula. In her earlier years, Annette worked as the bookkeeper for CEI, and went on to work at Value Drug for many years. After 15 years, Annette retired from working in the cafeteria at Ashtabula City Schools. From 1992 to 2008, she volunteered her time at UH-Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. In 2007, Annette was honored for her 15 years of service to the hospital and in 2008, she was granted Volunteer Emeritus status. When she officially ceased volunteering, she had nearly 1,800 hours of dedicated service. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 63 years, Frank Andrew Dragon; her three daughters Ann Marie Dragon of Perry, Marry Ann Dragon of Perry, and Patricia Dragon of Mentor. Annette was preceded in death by her parents; her brother’s Steve, Frank and Joe Zak; her sister Theresa Grey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11AM at St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, OH 44004 with the Rev Raymond Thomas presiding. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 6PM-8PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Volunteer Services. Mail donations to University Hospitals Intuitional Relations and Development P.O. Box 94554, Cleveland, OH 44101. Please make checks payable to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
