Obituary of Frank Gums, Sr.

Frank Gums, Sr., 86, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his home. Frank was born in Duluth, MN on February 11, 1937, to the late James and Mary (nee: Fulton) Gums. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Frank sailed the Great Lakes with Interlake Steamship, as an engine room engineer for many years. He was a former member of the Eagle’s. Frank enjoyed billiards, playing cards, fishing, and working on cars. He had the gift of gab, enjoyed telling jokes and his family will remember his quick wit and his ability to make anyone smile. Mr. Gums is survived by his wife, Dorothy (nee: Jones) Gums; children, Frank Gums Jr., Rashay Rawlings, Vickie Gums, Valerie Gums and Frank Bernard (Felisa) Pratt, Lachandra (Erick J. Rojas) C. Gums, and Ebony K. Gums; stepsons, Adrian Jones and Darian Jones; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Terry) Gums, Jenny (Randy) Pickens, and Mary Lou (Samuel) Pride; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Gums. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Gums. Funeral service will be held, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12:00PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., with Rev. Mitchel Jones, officiating. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 11:00AM until the time of service at 12:00PM. Dorothy wishes to extend a special thank you to Frank Jr., and Rashay for the help and care they provided their dad during his final days. Additional services and burial at Ft.
