John Sherman Pierce, Jr., 94, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born March 20, 1929, in Geneva, the son of John and Myrtle (Carpenter) Pierce. For over 38 years, John worked as Head Material Unloader for Union Carbide/Elkem. John is survived by his children, Sherman (Mary) Pierce of Ashtabula, and Roberta (Dale) Peavey of Chesnee, South Carolina; his sister, Dorothy Crislip of Ashtabula; his son-in-law, Ralph Harvey of Berlin Center, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by is wife of 72 years, Betty (Sleeper) Pierce; his daughter, Carol Harvey; his grandson, Brad Harvey; and his siblings, Maida Tingley, Gerald Pierce, Gladys Perkins, Lewis Pierce, Ancil Pierce, and Harold Pierce Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1:00PM at Zaback Williams Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Street, Ashtabula. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00Pm until the time of the service.
