Obituary of Maria Alberta Monterrubio

Maria Alberta Monterrubio ASHTABULA - Maria Alberta Monterrubio, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 12, 1934 in San Miguel Totolapan, Guerrero, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Monterrubio and Justina Crescencio and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1997, moving her family here from Elgin, IL. A wonderful cook, Maria was a devoted mother and did everything in her power to create a better life for her family. She was a strong woman who made her family members stronger. Well-respected by all who knew her, she was proud of her Mexican heritage and always paid close attention to anyone that was sick in the family, staying by there bedside until they were better. She loved pizza and cookies and liked to crochet and make crafts, always doing something to keep her hands busy. She also had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Maria is survived by her children, Francisco “Pancho” (Gloria) Monterrubio of Ashtabula, Evaristo (Yari) Guzman of Erie, PA, Erika (Hector) Picasso of Ashtabula, and Mirella Guzman of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Bianca, Gabriela, Lili, Selena, Cristobal, Emmanuel, Crystal, Mitzi, Ariana, Alex, Erik, Sharaim, AB, Noemi, Isaias; great-grandchildren, Frankie, Juan Daniel, Sebastian, Josseline, Camilo, Zailyn, Miraly, Eliel, Camila, Emiliano, Lisi, Jovani, Aaliyah and Mateo. She was preceded in death by her son, Miguel A. Guzman on April 1, 2022; two sisters, Juana and Ninfa; and two brothers, Francisco and Zacarias; and her parents. Calling hours will be held from 11:30-12:30 PM Monday, April 24, 2023 with a service at 12:30 PM at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Hector Picasso, Pastor of Iglesia Pentecostes “Arrepentios Y Convertios.” Burial will follow in Ridgeview Cemetery.
