Obituary of Michael W. Turner

ASHTABULA - Michael W. Turner, 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a courageous and hard fought 13 year battle with cancer. Michael was born on April 20, 1957 in Ashtabula to Carl R. Turner, Sr. and Merlene (nee: Hewitt) Turner. He graduated from Harbor High School in 1975. Over the years he was employed with Conrail Railroad, Premix and more recently Mr. Wash and L. Jackson Enterprises. He was a proud fan of the Michigan Wolverines and Pittsburgh Steelers and loved to watch football. Michael was the immediate past president of Club AGAPE, where he was president for seven years. He struggled with addiction but was proud to be sober for the past 12 years. The recovery community is grateful for Michael as he helped many others with their own addiction. Michael is survived by his daughter, Michelle Olesnanik; siblings, Carl R. (Patty) Turner, Jr., Kathie Turner and Donna (Otis) Conel; niece, Dania (Leonard) Harper; and his two great-nephews, Eddie and Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Austinburg Nursing, as well as the staff with Hospice of the Western Reserve for the love and care they showed them during his illness. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 3:00PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, with Pastor Isaac Chappell of Jefferson Community Church of God in Christ. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 2:00PM until the time of service at 3:00PM at the funeral home.
