Edward N. Kellogg

Edward Nelson Kellogg, 77, of Plymouth Twp., Ashtabula, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 11, 2018.

He was born May 14, 1941, in Ashtabula, Ohio the son of the late Marion Lawrence and Helen (Higgins) Kellogg. He graduated from Rome High School Class of 1959 and remained a lifelong area resident. He married the love of his life, Irene Kapala, on March 30, 1968 and had recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Ed worked for many years at SCM/Millennium, now known as Cristal, as a chemical operator before retiring in 2003.

Edward enjoy his family and loved mentoring them. He also loved God's firmament of nature and animals. Many times, he would rescue stray cats or dogs, treating them with care and adopting them as part of the family. He enjoyed doing yard work and landscaping, for which people would give many compliments. Dairy farming and 4-H involvement, was a big part of enjoyment with his children and grandchildren.

Muscle cars and historic classics were great entertainment for Ed and his friends. In fact, he carried a fond memory of his prized GTO, when he was a teenager, racing about Rome Township.

His military adventure in the Navy, although short lived, was part of his patriotic character.

Ed was a handsome gentleman, who many people commented that he looked very much like James Dean in his younger years.

You would often catch Ed reading scriptural verses from the Bible, attending church and listening to various Christian programs on the television.

His children and grandchildren certainly put a beaming, happy smile on his face, part of his living each day. His 50 years of marriage, to his beloved wife Irene, was a milestone and a testimony to their loving care for each other.

His quick, unexpected death, was a devastating blow to family and friends. Although he is no longer with us physically, spiritually, he will remain with us forever. Absent from us, is present with the Lord. We miss our dearest Ed/Dad/Grandpa!!

Mr. Kellogg is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene Dagmar (Kapala); sons, William Edward Kellogg and Mark Alan Kellogg, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandchildren, Michael Jacob, Kandice Irene and Megan Anne Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
