Ron Davis ROAMING SHORES – Ron Davis, 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was born July 27, 1946 in Cleveland, the son of George Brown and Ruth (Mears) Davis and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1964 graduate of Edgewood High School, he attended Kent State University Ashtabula. After high school he joined the US Navy, serving in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1969. Ron worked as a deputy for the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department, and ran the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department Cadet Program. He retired after 30 years' service in 2005. He then worked at Glenbeigh Hospital in Rock Creek for the past 13 years helping those who suffered from addiction. He was the 3rd degree Recording Secretary for the Knights of Columbus, and also served as a board member on parish council at Sacred Heart Church, in Rock Creek Ohio. Over the years he also coached for many years midget football and numerous little league baseball teams. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved his animals, especially his dog Peaches that passed earlier this summer. Ron was an active member of AA for 33 years, and dedicated his life to helping carry the message of recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous. For years he was a member of "There is a Solution Group" in Rock Creek Ohio along with Glenbeigh's "There is Hope Meeting". Ron was friend, support and confidant and touched the lives of so many. He loved both his blood family and his love family, and even those who were unlovable. He always gave the best hugs. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Patricia (Puchan) Davis who he married on July 13, 1980 on top of Flagstaff Mountain overlooking Boulder, CO; three sons, Duane (Cindy) Doroba, Ron (Ayisha) Davis, and Brian (Dayna) Davis; his mother, Ruth Davis-Rogers of Ashtabula; one sister, Sharon (Ed) Riegler; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, George and his step-father, Owen Rogers. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula and Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11AM-12PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3049 SR 45, Rock Creek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3049 SR 45, Rock Creek. Fr. John Madden will preside. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, OH 44004 or to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
