Obituary of Manuel Pomales

Dr. Manuel "Manny" Pomales, Jr., PhD, 66, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 10, 2019. He was born June 5, 1952 in Villalba, Puerto Rico the son of the late Manuel and Celita (Torres) Pomales. Manny graduated from Edgewood High School in 1971. He went on to Central State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and a Minor in Biological Science in 1975. In 1976, he received his Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University in Education and Guidance Counseling. In 1980, at the age of 30, he received his PhD in Higher Education and Guidance Counseling from The Ohio State University. Manny over the years was a professor at Kingsboro College, Bowling Green University and Tri-C. He was a member of the American Counseling Association. Manny was an avid Ohio State Buckeye, Yankees, and Browns Fan. He was a talented artist, and enjoyed painting and drawing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Pomales is survived by his son, Manuel (Missy) Pomales; grandchildren, Mandi Pomales, Manuel M. Pomales, Jr., and Anjelo Bowen; siblings, Raquel (Louis) Martinez, Fred (Carmen) Pomales, Norma Rivera, Paula Pomales, Annabelle (Mark) O'Donnell, Daniel (Angela) Pomales, David Pomales, Nelson Pomales, Nancy Noce, and Manuela Pomales. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Carlo Rivera. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula with Rev. Fr. David Bridling presiding. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held at the church from 12PM until the time of the service. The family would like to extend deep appreciation to the staff and nurses of Hospice of the Western Reserve for all their kindness, care, and comfort they provided Manny in his final days.
