George W. Smith ASHTABULA – George William Smith, known to many as "Tuni" because he was from Altoona, PA, 84, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1935 in Altoona, PA, the son of George C. and Hazel (Clemens) Smith, and had been an area resident most of his life. A graduate of Conneaut High School, he married the love of his life, Sandra Anne Jacobs on November 10, 1956 and together they shared 63 years and many wonderful times together. A veteran of the US Army, George served his country during peacetime before being honorably discharged. George spent a lot of his career in the automotive field. Previously a member of the Ashtabula Elks #208, the American Legion Post #103, and the VFW, #943, he attended the First Covenant Church. He loved ham loaf, the Edgewood marching band, and classic country music, but mostly he loved his family and they will miss him dearly.
