Richard “Rick” W. Moore ASHTABULA- Richard William “Rick “Moore, 73, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 after complications from a stroke and COVID-19. The oldest child of Richard and Jeanne (McCann) Moore, Rick was born on October 23, 1948, in Kirtland, Ohio. On graduating from high school Rick joined the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Rick attended both Cleveland State University and Lakeland Community College earning his associates degree. On June 19, 1999, Rick and Greta Bibbee were united in marriage. Together they created many memories along they way. Twenty-two years of love and commitment to each other and their family made many wonderful memories that are now treasures of the heart. Many things can be said about Rick; he was generous, fun loving, honest, hardworking, great listener, stubborn, hardheaded, a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend. Rick believed in giving of himself to his family and those in need; he believed in helping those less fortunate, he gave to so many his time, talents and a listening ear. Rick was honest to a fault, at times you might not want to hear what he had to say, but you know he spoke from his heart and wanted nothing but the best for you. Rick was a long-haul truck driver for thirty-six years and he “retired”. Never one to be idle, he began transporting the Amish to their various appointments and shopping trips. He loved to be in the presence of his friends and so enjoyed being a part of their lives. During his illness, they would stop by with food and encouragement, Rick was a large part of the Amish community, and he will be missed. Rick at times could be very stubborn and those who know him can attest to that. He was not mean or aggressive, he just wanted you to see it his way. Rick was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with a great fierceness in his heart. He supported, loved, encouraged and shared both in their triumphs and disappointments. As a coach he was a mentor to all his players, and they felt his love and encouragement as well as pride when things were well done. When time permitted, Rick enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends, many stories were told on the course and not all strokes recorded were accurate! Rick was a true lover of the out of doors. Camping, hiking, and hunting were some of his past times. He was happiest when he was outdoors with those he loved. During quiet times Rick was an avid reader, he would read anything. He would watch westerns always believing the guys in the white hats would always win. Rick loved to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious. Rick is survived by his beloved and much adored wife Greta; children, Jennifer(Marc) Okerwall of Willowick, Sarah(Daniel) Sanchez of Guyon, GA, Matthew Moore of Florida, Cheyenne (Micah) Moore of Cleveland, Lacy and Dinae Moore both od Andover; eleven precious grandchildren; siblings, Michael Moore of Painesville, Daniel(Christine) Moore of Prince Fredrick, MD, Kathleen (John) Holmes, of Bothell, WA, Maggie Karis of Hilton Head, SC and Carrie Moore of Cleveland; loving nieces and nephews; and his many friends of the Amish Community. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, is assisting the family.www.ducro.com
